Axis Prime

Drama | Coming-of-Age | Sci-Fi

Written by Tina Field Howe

Logline: 3,000 years after war destroyed her planet, a teenage farm girl must unite her clan with a savage warrior tribe to rescue their kidnapped children from a dying mutant race.

Synopsis: Axis Prime is set on a post-apocalyptic planet with two moons and weather with a mind of its own. Although similar to Earth, Axis Prime offers unique histories, cultures, religions, and creatures that emerged 3,000 years ago, after a devastating war known as the Cat’clysm. Yet that it was a war is hidden in the lie of its having been a natural disaster.

Three known peoples inhabit Axis Prime: the Field Folk, who are bound to traditions and mountain lands; the migratory hunter-warrior Trailmen, enemies of the Field Folk; and the monstrous, mutated M’raudas, believed to have died out long ago. The series is driven by the characters and conflicts they face due to strict societal laws, personal agendas, politics, misunderstood estranged groups, and the environment. In the first season, the ancient technology remains largely – but not completely – undiscovered. As the seasons progress, rediscovered technology that is not fully understood becomes increasingly important, affecting their lives in both positive and negative ways.
